Thomas M. Zaino, JD, CPA

Tom Zaino is Managing Member and founder of Zaino Hall & Farrin LLC, a Columbus-based boutique law firm that focuses on tax planning, controversy and policy, economic development, political law, and government affairs.  In his lobbying capacity, Tom has represented many business associations including The Ohio Society of CPAs, the Ohio REALTORS®, and the Manufacturing Policy Alliance, as well as many large private employers.  In his legal practice, Tom represents and defends companies and business owners before state and local governments.

Tom is an active participant in many business associations, including the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, NFIB-Ohio, and The Ohio Society of CPAs.  He previously served as Board Chair of both the Ohio Chamber of Commerce and The Ohio Society of CPAs.  Tom currently sits on the Ohio Chamber’s Executive Committee and serves on the board of directors of the Ohio Chamber’s Research Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization that delivers research to drive and promote the economic well-being of Ohio.

From 1999 through 2003, Tom served as Ohio Tax Commissioner and a member of Governor Bob Taft’s cabinet.  His role included guiding the development of Ohio’s tax policy through state and federal legislative efforts.  As Tax Commissioner, Tom chaired the bi-partisan legislative Committee to Study State and Local Taxes, which also led to many Ohio tax reforms.

Prior to his role as Tax Commissioner, Tom was a tax partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP.
